The Law of the Garbage Truck

Posted on March 31st, 2008 by Sandra Reed

With so much negative press going around these days about gas prices, the economy and so on…, we all feel like we’re getting dumped on.  Here’s a good way to look at it – and look past it too!

How often do you let other people’s nonsense change your mood?  Do you let a
bad driver, rude waiter, curt boss, or an insensitive employee ruin your day?
Unless you’re the Terminator, for an instant you’re probably set back on your
heels.  However, the mark of a successful person is how quickly she can get back
her focus on what’s important.Years ago I learned this lesson.

I learned it in the back of a New York City taxi cab.   Here’s what happened.

Building Your Booming Business – Leave the Past Behind and Intend Great Things!

Posted on March 27th, 2008 by Sandra Reed

My childhood was what some would call dysfunctional.  My father died in an auto accident when I was seven years old, and my grief stricken mother never totally recovered from the loss.  My brother and I lived with alcohol, and sometimes abuse, as a way of life.  But that was a long time ago…

Over the years, I’ve learned to forgive my mother, who chose to leave this world when I was 21 years old.  I’ve learned to use my past as a spring board to my life now.  My tenaciousness, ambition, and caring and belief in the power of people to reach their goals all came as a result of what I lived.  What I am is not what I was; I am what I have chosen to be right now.  I am the result of intentions I have brought to fruition, with God’s grace and guidance.

To Do Lists – Where Do You Find the Time To Do Them?

Posted on March 21st, 2008 by Sandra Reed

If you’re like me, many days are jam packed with more items on your “To Do” list than any human could possibly handle in one day.  Why do we tend to put ourselves in this situation, when we end up with little or no time to enjoy life?  Most of us work until 7-8pm, go to bed at 9-10pm, then get up early the next morning and do it all over again.  Before you know it the week is gone, then a month is gone, then you’re celebrating New Years Eve wondering if you enjoyed the year that just flew by…

While I’m not a big fan of most time management systems, it’s becoming obvious to me that I need to get a better handle on my work days, not only to get done what I need to do, but also to learn how to alleviate stress and overwhelm – since they both pop their ugly heads up all too often.

More Corporate Corruption…

Posted on March 18th, 2008 by Sandra Reed

I read an article recently about a former partner at a prestigious law firm who was sentenced to two years in federal prison for participating in a kickback scheme.  He was also sentenced to two years of probation, fined $250,000, and ordered to serve 1,000 hours of community service.  It seems like every time I read the paper there is something similar to this corporate corruption example.  Thank goodness I don’t read the paper every day – too much negative input for me!

I worked for a large corporation myself for 24 years.  I wasn’t directly privy to such goings on, but many times, in my capacity as a project manager, I was frustrated about being "ordered" to do things that didn’t feel quite right.   When I left that company I breathed a very large sigh of relief!

So here I am 13 years later developing Soulpreneur Programs to help corporate employees get out of the rat race and create their own "soul-based" business.  It’s obvious to me when I do read the newspaper that this is an idea whose time has come.  What do you think?

How Do You Define Generosity?

Posted on by Sandra Reed

If you haven’t given yourself the gift of Angels on Earth Magazine, it may be time to get on the band wagon.  It has wonderful stories, sure to touch a Soulpreneur’s heart, and frequently gives you something to think about in building your business.

Just this morning I read a wonderful story in the Mar/Apr 2008 edition titled "To See Again", by Joan Ann Rodriguez.
