Memorial Day Reflections

Posted on May 26th, 2008 by Sandra Reed

With a business name like Soulpreneur® Success Strategies, you might guess that I’m a spiritual person.  Being a spiritual person I cringe when I hear or see violence.  It offends my soul to see anyone or anything mistreated.

Today is Memorial Day, a day for us to remember those who have lost their lives defending our country.  While I know intellectually there are times when war and violence seems to be the only answer, in my heart and soul I believe there must be a better way to live and resolve our differences.  I also know that as long as this earth turns on its axis, there will most likely be violent answers given to our different ideas of how people should live.

Today we remember those who have come and gone, back to where they came from to begin with.  Ultimately, I believe they came here to do what they did, and they have now returned home to contemplate their next move on life.  Whether they were known or unknown, as in the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, I acknowledge and remember their contribution to life.

I know we all come here for just a little while, and we leave our mark.  Hopefully we are happy during our journeys, and then we return Home to consider our next great adventure.

Every life is precious.  Every life is worthy – just as it stood, just as it stands.

What do you hear?

Posted on May 19th, 2008 by Sandra Reed

Tamaracklotforwebsite For those of you who aren’t blessed to live in the mountains, I have attached a quick audio/video clip so you can hear what it’s like to go for a walk and hear the wind in the trees.  It’s mesmerizing…

What’s the point?  As I was going for my daily walk a couple of days ago, it occurred to me that I was thoroughly enjoying the sound of the wind, but I would never be able to really "see" it.  All I can see is its effects…

The same thing happens in your business.  You will never be able to physically "see" the virtues of kindness, patience, caring, concern, and helpfulness that will keep your customers coming back over and over again.  But you will definitely see their effects – happy customers if you utilize them, unhappy customers (looking for another supplier!) if you don’t…

Make More Money by Discovering the Why Behind the What

Posted on May 15th, 2008 by Sandra Reed

What makes a customer call you and hire you?  Is it the ad you put in the newspaper, or the brochure you mailed to them, or the person who referred you?  All of these things may be necessary ingredients in your marketing strategy, but they aren’t the real reason a customer takes time out of their busy day to pick-up the phone and call you.  The real reason lies behind their desire for a particular product or service.

The reason a prospective customer calls you is the way they hope your product or service will enhance their life.  It’s the good feelings, happiness, peace of mind, etc. they anticipate experiencing as a result of what you provide to them.  Here’s an example.

Reflections on a Happy Mothers Day!

Posted on May 11th, 2008 by Sandra Reed

To all you moms, I’m wishing you a happy Mother’s Day.  Maybe you’re like me and you don’t usually see your children on Mother’s Day, but you get to talk to them and wish them happy Mother’s Day too.

All the years of worrying and fussing and fuming with your kids goes way too fast.  Although I love my freedom at this stage of my life, I miss the times when we were all together on a daily basis.  It seems like eons ago now.

The nice thing about owning your own business is the opportunity to be in business with your children – if you choose.  My son as been a part of our family business for 18 years.  We have seen him mature from a gangly 13 year old trying to learn construction, to a 31 year old dad with four children of his own who is able to take control of jobs in progress, so we can enjoy more vacation time in our mid-life.  I wouldn’t trade any of it for the world.

So, I hope you are reflecting on your blessings and that you are surrounded by the love of your family on this glorious Mothers Day 2008.

Your Business Needs Inspiration Too…

Stress When you’re wondering how you’re going to get it all done, that’s the time (believe it or not!) to take a one minute break and regroup.

Here’s a "regroup" thought you can use when the going gets tough.  It’s my gift to you.

When life hands you stressful "stuff", don’t forget to look for the gifts too.
In the gifts you’ll find the truth about your life.
There your treasure lies.
Don’t forget to always look for the gifts.

Are Your Customers Talking About You?

Posted on May 5th, 2008 by Sandra Reed

If you own a business, you’ve probably heard the statistical data that states for every customer complaint received there are at least 26 complaints that are never expressed; and a disgruntled customer is probably going to tell 20-25 of their friends about their complaint.  It’s no secret that overcoming bad press from your customers can be extremely difficult.

If you have any doubt about how important your reputation is to your business, just look around you and you will find evidence of it in many of the large corporations you deal with every day.
