Marketing with Pizazzz!

Posted on August 19th, 2009 by Sandy Reed

Creative marketing is the name of the game when you’re competing with the mindset of many people that says, “I need to wait to buy this (do this, etc., etc…) until the economy gets better…”  Hertz has found CorvetteAdHertz051a way to cut through this mindset and get to the bottom line – fun!  After all, how many sports car enthusiasts can resist when they have the opportunity to rent a bright yellow, shiny Corvette ZHZ – built exclusively for Hertz…

Not only are they appealing to the affluent public that can afford to rent this dynamite car, they are limiting production to 500 models, putting it into the classic category, and very probably making it the hottest rental car in the rental market today.

It’s part of their “Fun Collection”.  Guess they got the message that people were tired of renting plain old sedans and compact cars!

I’d say Hertz has hit a home run with this idea!  How about you?  How many lessons in marketing with pizazz can you learn from this one ad?  I’ve counted at least five…

P.S.  And I love their headline – “Reserve some “whoa.”

Calling all Marketing Consultants!

Posted on August 9th, 2009 by Sandy Reed

logo I’ve been enjoying the process of rebranding IAWIFE and formulating the platform for this new business model. In the very near future you will be hearing and seeing more about the National Association of Marketing Consultants (NAMC-Connect). Since its inception, IAWIFE has been teaching marketing and business building principles to help you grow and prosper in your business. Now it’s going to be clearly the main focus. You will see a new look and logo. I can’t wait to share it with you.

I sincerely hope you will give me lots of feedback on what you need and what you think we could do better or differently to help you be more successful and prosperous.

Here’s a wonderful quote from Seth Godin’s book “Tribes – We Need You to Lead Us”.

”Life’s too short” is repeated often enough to be a cliche, but this time it’s true. You don’t have enough time to be both unhappy and mediocre. It’s not just pointless, it’s painful. Instead of wondering when your next vacation is, maybe you ought to set up a life you don’t need to escape from.”

That’s what I wish for you all – a life you don’t need to escape from – a life you love, and a business that’s a natural and fun part of that life.

Sales of new homes take off…

Posted on August 3rd, 2009 by Sandy Reed

Those are the headlines I read in this mornings newspaper.  Since I try to avoid negative news as much as possible, I was thrilled to see something up-front and bold that was so positive.  In fact, I spent a few minutes reading through the entire article just so I could start my day off on in the positive thinking mode.  There’s a lesson to be learned here…

We are bombarded by hundreds, if not thousands, of marketing messages every day of our lives.   Not all of them are successful in getting people to move – to do what?  To buy the product of service that’s currently in front of them.  We all know –  because we get these messages via email, snail mail, TV ads, magazine ads, or whatever - that if something doesn’t grab the person’s attention right away, and make them believe that this product or service can actually make their life a little (or a lot) better, it’s going to end up in the round file very quickly.  So if the marketing message doesn’t contain a highly emotional, bold, or humorous aspect it’s likely not going to get the job done.

In the case of the above headlines, it caught my attention because I happen to be the CFO of a construction business, and guess what?  I really care about what happens in the housing industry.  Do you know what your clients really care about?  If not, I suggest you find out and make sure your marketing messages emotionally, boldly, or humorously portray what really matters to your clients.
