Are Your Customers Talking About You?
If you own a business, you’ve probably heard the statistical data that states for every customer complaint received there are at least 26 complaints that are never expressed; and a disgruntled customer is probably going to tell 20-25 of their friends about their complaint. It’s no secret that overcoming bad press from your customers can be extremely difficult.
If you have any doubt about how important your reputation is to your business, just look around you and you will find evidence of it in many of the large corporations you deal with every day.
For example, Home Depot will put your name in a drawing for a $5,000 shopping spree if you give them feedback on their service. Carls Jr. puts customer testimonials on their drinking cups, so you’ll be sure to see how great their food is to their customers and the business community. I received a $2.00 off coupon for filling out a customer satisfaction survey at a local grocery store.
Here’s a tip. When you are in the middle of delivering a product or service to a customer and they are raving about how great you are, that’s the time to request a testimonial. Just a couple of sentences stating how your product or service has made a difference in their life, with permission to use it in your marketing materials, will boost your success rates significantly. Don’t wait until you’re already gone, and their enthusiasm has died down. Ask for feedback when they’re in that happy place you have provided for them.
