If you’re a woman entrepreneur and have escaped the corporate rat race, you’ll appreciate this wonderful quote from Nancy Widmann, author of I Didn’t See It Coming: The Only Book You’ll Ever Need to Avoid Being Blindsided in Business.
“Women who’ve worked their way up the ladder have that grateful thing going, thinking, look what has been given to me, rather than, look what I have given. We’ve worked hard. The idea that we should be grateful is absurd.”
I’ve been there and done that. How about you?

Last week I was exercising near my home in Southern California by climbing hundreds of stairs along the canyon wall. It’s a way for me to break away from my business, so that I’m free to expand for an hour or so.
Out of the blue an idea for a completely new product came into my mind and I couldn’t get it out. It grew so strong that it drowned out the Black Eyed Peas blaring from my IPod.
It started out soft like a “tickle” and before I knew it, my thoughts weren’t my own anymore.
I started seeing the product and how it would be constructed; all the way down to what color the stitching was and where the logo would go.
I got excited knowing that there wasn’t a product like this on the market and began thinking about how it would radically change the way people did things.

Soul and business. Business and… soul. You don’t often see these two words in the same sentence — especially over the past 60 years of “I’m going make-it-until-I-drop… I don’t care who’s in my way” mentality.
If you have “it,” you understand the concept without skipping a beat.
If you’re looking for “it,” you feel a longing with every step you take in your business — even if it’s just the unspoken tug of unknowing.
If the concept of soul and business in the same breath incites you to… uncomfortable levels… well… that’s a whole different article.
To understand the concept of the soul of business, you have to consider what “soul” means. The challenge is… that it has a different meaning for each individual. The context is flexible; it’s in the beholder.
This is also where the fun and the power of business is… IF you know how to tap into it.

When you’re building any business, especially an online business where there are thousands, if not millions, of people competing for attention, it’s critical that you find a way to create visibility and set yourself apart from your competitors. Giving potential clients the opportunity to get to know you on a personal level through writing and publishing your own articles is one way to stand out and get noticed.
Article marketing helps you build a successful business by:
- Giving you the opportunity to build a list of clients that are interested in your products or services, so you can notify them when you have something new to offer.
- Establishing you as an expert in your field and building credibility with your potential clients.
- Giving publishers and editors the opportunity to review your articles in an open, non-threatening environment.
- Letting readers of your articles know about your business and what you have to offer by creating a personalized resource box listing your credentials, which is attached to all of your articles.
- Allowing you to include a link to your blog or website in your resource box, so readers can go directly to your site and get more information about your products or services.
- Giving you free publicity when you allow syndication of your articles to publishers and editors of newsletters, websites, and magazines.
- Educating readers in your field of expertise and using it as a springboard from which you can improve the world around you.

If you’re like I was when I was starting out in business, I had a nagging feeling that I needed to go back to school to get more "credibility" with my clients so I could "make more money". Well, an article I read recently just blew that mis-leading idea out the window…
Country star Gretchen Wilson just recently passed her General Education Development exam. She left school in the 9th grade…
Gretchen is a Grammy award winning singer/songwriter and author. Her first single Redneck Woman, spent five weeks at the top of the Billboard country chart. This says to me that when you have a gift to give to the world, it will be rewarded – even if you don’t have a BA, MBA, or even a high school diploma!
So, keep reaching down deep inside of you and find out what your gifts are, the ones you do naturally, and that you love to do. You know the ones I’m talking about, don’t you? Those are the ones we all need to hear, see, read, or experience. Those are the ones you need to express in and through your business that will make it a booming success.
Do you know what yours are?
